　　肖邦的《G小调第一叙事曲》总长仅九分钟，诞生至今已有近二百年，却依然有着特殊的魅力，不但在视频网站上创下数百万的点击率，更影响着今天许多人的生活。本片讲述了两个普通人——苏格兰青年保罗和日本中学生桃香，在各自经历了人生的不幸之后，因肖邦的叙事曲而重新振作，勇敢面对今后的生活。伊莫金·库珀、弗拉基米尔·阿什肯纳齐、朗朗、斯蒂芬·霍夫等钢琴演奏家也将轮番登场，详细剖析这首不同寻常的钢琴曲，为我们揭开音符中的奥妙。
　　This hour-long documentary, directed by BAFTA and Emmy award winning director James Kent, meets Japanese teenager Momoka and Scottish music student Paul Murray to explore how Chopin’s extraordinary Ballade Number 1 transforms the lives of ordinary people and illustrates how classical music still penetrates contemporary life in unexpected and powerful ways.
　　Momoka, is a 15-year-old pianist from Sendai, Japan, whose community was decimated by the 2011 tsunami and earthquakes. For Momoka, the Ballade embodies the anguish and rebellion she feels but doesn't allow to surface.
　　For 22-year-old Paul from Glasgow, the piece is life-changing. Paul grew up in Bellshill, a working class suburb of Glasgow. He first played piano at 15, and it opened up a whole new world for him. During his first term studying on the B.Mus (Hons) degree programme at the University of Aberdeen, Paul was diagnosed with a brain tumour and then MS which both eventually caused him to lose the ability to walk and to play with his right hand. Waiting in his hospital bed in between operations over three months, he played the Ballade again and again on the iPod his dad Stephen had given him. It was that single piece's emotional pull that Paul credits with the return of his memory.
　　Paul told us some more about his involvement in the programme:
　　"I have been for some time now transcribing the Ballade in g minor for the left-hand alone. The reason being I played this piece back in high school and with the medical complications lost the ability to play perhaps my favourite piece of all time. Luckily for my this piece was going to be the subject of a major documentary and with my story and attachment to the Ballade I was selected to be involved!"

　　The documentary was awarded 2nd place in the 'Halo' Best Arts Documentary award category at the awards ceremony on Monday, 4 November 2013 at the Queen Elizabeth Hall at London’s Southbank Centre. The ceremony was filmed and shown on Sky Atlantic.

　　英国数代国王都曾在此居住，国王加冕前住在伦敦塔则更成为一种惯例。而伦敦塔更是以监狱出名，共关押过大约1700名囚徒，不少王公贵族和政界名人都曾在这里度过人生最后阶段。亨利六世因为在玫瑰战争中失利，进入伦敦塔后被爱德华四世杀害。1483年，当时13岁即位的幼主爱德华五世及其胞弟理查德被关入伦敦塔后就没有出现了。多数人认为，他们被其叔叔理查德三世谋害了。1554年，九日女王“简格雷”被以叛国罪名处死时不过18岁。亨利八世把《乌托邦》的作者托马斯椠尔关入伦敦塔，他的两任妻子安妮娠靓、凯瑟琳霍华德先后因为通奸罪名而在伦敦塔内被处死。其后，亨利八世的女儿也曾经被幽禁在塔内，出来却成为英国国王，她便是著名的伊丽莎白一世。女王的宠臣艾塞克斯伯爵和沃尔特圠利爵士也没有逃脱伦敦塔的阴影。而有名的“火药阴谋”的主犯也是在塔内被拷问后处死的。伦敦塔的最后一名囚犯是鲁道夫·汉斯，叛逃英国的德国纳粹党副首领。

　　伦敦塔内最有名的鬼魂，也是塔内第一个显赫的受难者，王后安妮·博林——亨利八世的第二位妻子，她由于被控犯有叛国罪和通奸的罪名，于1536年5月19日，在塔内绿地上被斩首。临死前她的丈夫英王亨利八世满足了她最后的一个愿望——用剑而不是斧头行刑，为此亨利专门从法国加莱物色了剑客充当刽子手。
　　在她死后不久就有人声称看到她的鬼魂一袭白袍逡巡在塔内的绿地和回廊上。另一个有名的鬼魂是马格利特女伯爵，为了扫除政敌，亨利八世以叛国罪宣布处死她，1541年5月28日，年近七旬的老公主被押上了刑场，但她秉性刚烈，决不肯跪伏在断头台上，不仅如此，刽子手刚刚向她走来，她竟然撒腿就跑，但很快被刽子手一顿乱砍，顷刻殒命。于是每年的5月28日，塔内的看守都说可以听到垂死女伯爵痛苦的呻吟声。许多个夜晚，塔内的守卫报告曾在城堡西南方的”血塔”附近看到过两个身着睡衣的小孩子的身影，更为奇怪的是他们还手牵着手！熟悉英国历史的人明白，这正好印证了500多年前发生在这里的一宗离奇命案：英王爱德华四世1483年去世后，他的两个儿子——爱德华五世和弟弟约克公爵被送到塔里等待继承王位。
　　英国的科学家们不肯承认真的有鬼魂，2003年，赫特福德郡大学的学者们携带最先进的物理电磁感应仪器对伦敦塔内诸多”鬼魅”频繁出没的地区进行了调查，虽然调查并没有真的捉到鬼魂的踪迹，但是也发现了不少有价值的证据，首先，塔内某些地点磁场异常强烈，另外某些地点建筑格局造成了气流通过时速度较高，而且会发出空气在隙穴中的啸叫，此外，光线的昏暗客观上可能对游客产生了心理暗示的作用，毕竟报告鬼魂事件最多的还是熟知英国历史的本土游客。于是科学家们得出结论：”闹鬼”事件都是环境造成的，所谓”鬼魂”不过是人大脑对现象的解读，鬼魂现象应该说是磁场、寒冷的气流、昏暗或变幻的光线等造成的。科学研究还发现，那些”闹鬼”地方常存在次声波，次声波会使人不安，还会使火苗摇曳不定。换句话说，伦敦塔内某些地点的磁场异常、空气流动以及次声波，加上昏暗的光线，特别容易激发起人们内心深处对幽闭环境的恐惧感，如果再联想到数百年前塔内发生过的种种血腥事件——包括死刑和谋杀，游客就很容易相信自己发现了鬼魂。
　　第一集：叛国者
　　这一集里有史上最匪夷所思的越狱之一，但这位神父为何被投入监狱，又如何从这古代恶魔岛逃出生天呢？

　　四年时间拍摄，四集短片，一个令人惊讶的系列节目。本系列节目通过对北极地区四个最独特的区域的探索，从一个完全不同的视角去让观众感受这个地区的原著动物们的生活和非凡的居住习性。摄制组花了12个月时间去拍摄大雅冰冻森林区，此区拥有着占全世界1/3数量的林木；此外，还探索了北极的苔原地带，苔原地带被认为是地球上最冷最干燥的地区之一，在这个地区里居住着成千上万数量的驯鹿。最后1集短片为我们展示了北极熊和北极鲸类的生活圈并探究了冰岛这个国家。

　　Series Eighteen starts airing on 29 January 2012 with seven episodes (not including the India Special),[1] following on from the 2011 Christmas special which aired on 28 December 2011.[2] In the special they take a route across India, the first of the many countries Top Gear plans to visit over the course of the new series, according to Jeremy Clarkson. Shooting in India began on 2 October, with the first leg of the shooting beginning in suburbs of Mumbai.[3][4] The show was also seen in Lecce, Italy with a Noble M600, McLaren MP4-12C and a Lamborghini Aventador.[5] Hammond announced during the Top Gear Live shows in Birmingham, that additional recordings for the new series had been done in the USA.
　　The January 2012 edition of Top Gear Magazine featured a preview of what to expect in series 18.[6] It included a piece where Richard Hammond drives a NASCAR safety car for a real race, later going on to drive an actual NASCAR race car. The magazine also featured a part of some of the power tests to expect, including Jeremy Clarkson driving a Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Edition, a Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster and a Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale. Hammond meanwhile will drive a 2012 BMW M5 F10, and May will have a Vauxhall Corsa Nürburgring Edition. Another feature is going to China to test drive Chinese cars, Italy in 3 super-cars, Lamborghini Aventador, Noble M600 and a McLaren MP4-12C. Also James May is taking a trip to USA to test sports hybrid supercar Fisker Karma, meet AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson and drive his 1928 Bentley Vanden Plas LeMans Tourer. According to Top Gear Executive Producer Andy Wilman, Clarkson, Hammond and May are going to northern Sweden as well, where they will race the new Ferrari FF across a Silverstone Circuit-shaped ice track. Also Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond will attempt to film a car chase sequence for The Sweeney.
